Barber Motors came away with the top prize of Business of the Year as well as winning the Golden Service Award in the WEYBEX Awards, presented virtually by the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce on Friday. . .

Finalists named for Weyburn Chamber s WEYBEX Awards

In the Community Involvement Award category, sponsored by SaskEnergy, the finalists are: DSI Contracting, NSWB Law Firm and Weyburn Oilwomen’s Association. In the Business Leader of the Year Award category, sponsored by Ramada and Canalta, the finalist is Don Shumlich, CEO of the Weyburn Credit Union. In the Golden Service Award category, sponsored by MNP, the finalists are: Barber Motors and RP Automotive. In the Business Hall of Fame category, sponsored by the Weyburn Credit Union, the finalists are: RP Automotive, Don’s Plumbing & Heating, and East Wey Auto Body. In the New or Expanded Business Award category, sponsored by Community Futures Sunrise the finalists are: Mryglod Steel and Metal, Fido’s Place Doggy Daycare and Training Centre, and DSI Contracting.

Construction of Weyburn s new recreation and culture project 99 per cent complete

To date, construction is 99 per cent complete with specialty finishes being installed and mechanical system commissioning underway. The facility remains on track for its scheduled opening in September 2021. Under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the Government of Canada will contribute up to $500,712, and the Government of Saskatchewan will contribute up to $417,218 toward the Credit Union Spark Centre (Weyburn Recreation and Cultural Centre) for several out-of-contract amenities including the indoor playground structure located in the MNP Play Centre, a National Hockey League sized arena board system, half-size International Federation of Association Football synthetic sports turf, synthetic sports turf covering, score clocks, spectator bleachers, and multi-sport video simulators.
