A divided Broward County school board voted Tuesday to terminate Superintendent Robert Runcie without cause, ousting him from the district following a 90-day transition period through a mutual exit deal worth more than $740,000.
The board voted 5-4 to fire Runcie as he fights a felony perjury charge after allegedly lying to a statewide grand jury empaneled to examine the district s approach to safety, including the spending of public dollars meant to secure schools.

Runcie gets $750,000+ in separation agreement with Broward schools
BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Broward County School Board voted 5-4 Tuesday to approve the mutual separation agreement for Superintendent Robert Runcie that was agreed upon a day prior between Runcie’s attorney and board Chair Rosalind Osgood.
The separation agreement comes to a total of $754,900, and Runcie will remain a district employee until Aug. 10.
The deal includes a 90-day transition period and 20 weeks of severance, including a payout of accrued vacation and sick time, money to his state retirement pension and $25,000 in attorney fees for the separation agreement.

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – Negotiations resumed Monday between Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie’s attorney and Broward School Board Chair Dr. Rosalind Osgood regarding the superintendent’s separation agreement, and Runcie could soon be walking away with over $740,000.
The exact figure Osgood and the superintendent’s attorney agreed to Monday was $743,052.
The school board still needs to discuss and vote on a final agreement. They are scheduled to meet Tuesday morning starting at 9 a.m., and some members are likely to object to the number in what could be a heated discussion.
