This morning i got a call from a reporter who wanted to know, why would the museum at a time when it was focused on opening the building, why would they even helped organize such a conference . The simple answer is that we are crazy, but at the smithsonian and at this busy him, scholarship is the engine and research is the lifeblood of the institution.
