SunStar + March 06, 2021 MORE than a kilo of suspected shabu worth more than P7 million was confiscated by operatives of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) from a suspected drug pusher on Magallanes St., Barangay Ermita in Cebu City at dawn Saturday, March 6, 2021. Anti-drug operatives arrested Carlo Magno Tude, 36, who is a resident in the area. Major Jonathan Taneo, head of the CCPO’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), said they learned about Tude’s illegal activities through an informant. After three weeks of surveillance, Taneo and his operatives conducted a buy-bust against Tude. Around 1,050 grams of suspected shabu were recovered from Tude.

Prosecutor upholds NBI recommendation to file murder charges vs Layese

SunStar + February 02, 2021 THE Office of Cebu City Prosecutor upheld the recommendation of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 to file murder charges against Ret. Col. Edwin Layese for his alleged participation as the mastermind and/or contractor of the shooting incident that killed lawyer Joey Luis Wee. Lawyer Rennan Augustus Oliva, NBI 7 director, said they received a copy of the case information dated Jan. 29, 2021, on Monday afternoon, Feb. 1. He said this is a very good development and said even the petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus filed by Layese s counsel was denied by the court. Writ of Habeas Corpus is used to bring a detainee before the court to determine if his detention is lawful.
