Former Minister for Tourism Brendan Griffin has called upon the government to include an additional bank holiday this year to give Irish tourism and hospitality a boost.
Speaking at the Dail Eireann on Wednesday, the Kerry TD asked for the additional bank holiday to be put in place at the end of September, by which point most restrictions will ideally be lifted.
Ireland is currently due to enjoy three more bank holidays this year; on June 7, August 2, and October 25.
