they have enabled them to raep all the profit. someone who sat on the anti-union board of walmart for six years the right person to restore workers rights? in a time we re still reeling from a global financial disaster brought on by foolhardy bank deregulation, someone who recently took $400,000 to give two speeches at goldman sachs, the person we named to take control back from the inmates. to be clear that i would back hillary with all my heart against any republican, and i would even support hillary over most democrats. but her entry into the race would likely keep out elizabeth warren or another real middle-class champion. so though i admire and respect secretary clinton deeply, i must say, don t run, hillary. don t run. here to discuss that
oh, how could we ever see this financial crisis coming? it shocked everyone and we had to take measures and emergency respond. but in 1989, you opposed bank deregulation, you had an amendment that would have restricted banks from doing trading. that was squelched. and briefly you said at the time, the kind of risk overhanging the financial institutions in this country will one day land with a thud and wake everybody up. how on earth could we have thought we d continue to have this kind of system and not have to bail banks out? you were so on the money. the question i have is simplery, have any of your former colleagues ever pulled you aside and said, wow, we should have listened to you more? do you feel it s sort of as divisive as ever on how we look at these issues? not too many of them have frankly. and i m not selling a book these days, but a couple years ago, i wrote a book called reckless.
party of drill, baby, drill does not get blamed. there s a financial meltdown, and the party of bank deregulation does not get blamed. there s an attack in arizona with assault weapons, and the party that backs assault weapons doesn t get blamed. let me ask you this when you see him talk to the is it a perfect metaphor for everything that s wrong with our politics? that elizabeth warren, one of the few people who wanted to protect consumers, condition be confirmed by congress to be head of the consumer protection bureau. yet any partner at goldman sachs could walk in and get virtually every vote in congress? you know that area way better than i do. you know, i have little crush on lib elizabeth warren. she s a frequent guest on our show. i m biased in that area. but you certainly she is if anyone is at this moment in our history the spokesman for the middle class, and who needs a spokesman more than the middle class?
