Driver Dan Deslandes earned the 1,000th win of his career on Wednesday (May 5), reaching the milestone with Millwood Faith N in the seventh race at Bangor Raceway.
The 28-year-old Deslandes guided the 11-year-old mare to a 1:59.3 win, her third in four starts this year. Deslandes, who is currently second in the Bangor Raceway standings behind Bruce Ranger, also won the afternoon s 10th race with Love Love Me Do.
Live racing returns to Bangor Raceway on May 16, and will continue every Wednesday (3 p.m.) and Sunday (12:15 p.m.) through July 21.

The Maine CDC reports 326 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death. Bates College students have been on in-room lockdown for over a week, and it’s now been extended to Sunday. Students are only allowed to leave their rooms for food, exercise, or getting vaccinated as the college tries to get ahead of a growing COVID-19 outbreak.
Two men are facing charges after a homeowner said they allegedly broke into his Otis home. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the witness told authorities that two men ran from his house when he returned home. WVII-TV reports Darrell Rogers of Medford and Casey Mcelligot of Otis are charged with burglary.
The 138th season of harness racing at historic Bangor Raceway will get underway with a nine-race card on Sunday (April 11). First race post time is 12:15 p.m.
“It’s always exciting to get a new racing season underway, and this year, with an earlier opening than in previous years, we have made a few changes, including an earlier post time on Sunday that will allow for more families to come and watch the races,” said Michael Hopkins, manager of racing operations at Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway. COVID-19 precautions, including phyhsical distancing and mandatory masks for all visitors, will be enforced.
