SCG adds olefins capacity 1 SCG Chemicals Business, a petrochemical arm of SET-listed Siam Cement Group, expects its Map Ta Phut Olefins Co (MOC) to reach full olefin production capacity of 2.05 million tonnes a year, up from 1.7 million tonnes, thanks to a debottlenecking project. The project should lead to lower costs and promote energy savings using environmentally friendly processes. The project is a collaboration between SCG Chemicals Business and chemical maker Dow Thailand in a move to improve the potential and provide a competitive advantage on a global scale, said Tanawong Areeratchakul, president of SCG Chemicals Business. This project will see MOC produce an additional 350,000 tonnes of olefins a year, increasing flexibility in feedstock selection, he said.

SCG s Chemicals Business and Dow Thailand Group (Dow) announced the success of Map Ta Phut Olefins (MOC) Debottleneck Project (MOC Debottleneck or MOCD), which was completed ahead of plan and has started initial production. Production is expected to reach full capacity in May 2021. The MOCD will expand the MOC s olefins production capacity by 350,000 tons per year, strengthening its capability and competitive advantage, meeting the globally growing demand from industries, and enhancing Thailand s petrochemical industry potentiality. State-of-the-art technology of MOC Debottleneck project enables the production process to have a lower investment cost, promotes energy saving, and is environmentally-friendly (Green Process).
