GREAT FALLS â Here is the latest information on several large wildfires burning south of Great Falls. As of Friday, there have been no reported injuries or damaged structures.
The
Harris Mountain Fire has burned an estimated 26,478 acres as Friday morning (July 30), and is about 13% contained. The fire was sparked by lightning on Friday, July 23, and is about seven miles south/southeast of the town of Cascade. A community meeting will be held Saturday, July 31, at 10 a.m. at Wedsworth Hall (13 Front Street South) in Cascade. Northern Rockies Incident Management Team 7 will provide an update on the fire. Approximately 60 residences have been affected by evacuation orders and notifications. No new evacuation orders or notifications have been issued since July 26th. On Monday, July 26th, the Cascade County Sheriff s Office issued MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS for all residents south of mile marker 7

NEAR NEIHART â You may not think of Summer as a busy time at Showdown Ski Area, but because of the Divide Complex fires, it is this year. The team at Showdown Montana ski area is working to help the crews that are fighting the wildfires. As of Thursday morning, the Balsinger Fire is about 8,185 acres with no containment. The Ellis Fire is estimated at 1,277 acres, with 80% containment. The two wildfires are being co-managed as the Divide Complex Fire.

GREAT FALLS â Helena-Lewis & Clark National Forest provided an update on Tuesday morning on several large fires.
The
American Fork Fire is estimated at 8,379 acres, and is about 10% contained. Yesterday, the fire was reported to be 12,366 acres; the lower number reflects more accurate mapping.
The
Balsinger Fire is about 6,722 acres with no containment. The
Ellis Fire is estimated at 1,277 acres, with 70% containment. The Balsinger and Ellis fires are being co-managed as the Divide Complex Fire.
The Divide Complex has 165 personnel assigned, along with aircraft, engines, dozers and water tenders. The American Fork Fire has 183 personnel assigned, including engines, a dozer and a water tender. Private rancher dozers are also supporting the suppression efforts.

Wildfire season began quite a bit earlier than usual this year in Montana. Dry, drought-like conditions have resulted in multiple fires are wildfires burning throughout the state.
The largest wildfire burning in Montana is the Trail Creek Fire. The fire is burning along the border of Montana and Idaho 20 miles west of Wisdom, Montana. The fire is currently 32,933 Acres. The fire was started by lightning on Thursday, July 8, 2021.

The Trail Creek Fire started on July 8, 2021, approximately 20 miles West of Wisdom, Montana, as the result of lightning. 32,933 Acres have burned. 137 personnel are assigned to the Trail Creek Fire. The estimated containment date is November 1, 2021.
Lincoln County Evacuation Orders
The Kootenai National Forest says evacuations are underway in Lincoln County where the South Yaak Fire has spread northward.
According to an incident update from the Kootenai National Forest around 1:30 this afternoon, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is evacuating residents on East side Road, west of the fire. The Sheriff s office says the mandatory evacuation order for Eastside Road near Troy only applies to residences north of mile marker 3. Affected residents in that area will be contacted by deputies.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says it’s receding the mandatory evaluation order for Kilbrennan Lake Road. Residents there remain in a pre-evacuation status and must be prepared to evacuate if requested.
