Family and friends of 13yearold Austin Pendergrass gathered at the shore of a south reno pond and released balloons at the exact moment he was pulled year ago. It hit me at registration day, school r rgistration day and then just spiraled down. But today as she relived her own loss she learned a 19 year old man had drowned hours earlier at paradise pond. Shelly it just broke my heart because its still happening. the 19 year old and family members had gone to Paradise Park after three in the morning. He reportedly walked out on the ice toward an area stirred by a pump where the ice was weak and had fallen through. When rescuers arrived they found family members on the ice trying to get to him. Chris weve had to go in and replace all the tile floor, all the carpet in all the classrooms. 95 percent of the first floor is damaged. That includes the band room. And a few lockers.
