The success of the Grand Vitara has also propelled Maruti Suzuki’s premium retail chain, Nexa to a 15% market share in the overall Indian passenger car market.
Maruti Suzuki has been focused on regaining its market share in the Indian automotive industry after noticing that more customers were shifting from fuel-efficiency to performance and image. The carmaker, which previously dominated the Indian market with affordable and easy-to-maintain small cars, struggled when sport utility vehicle (SUV) sales rocketed, accounting for over 45% of the market by July 2022.
Looking to consolidate its presence in the fast-growing mid-sized sports utility segment, Maruti Suzuki India on Monday launched its all-new model Grand Vitara priced between Rs 10.45 lakh and Rs 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
