The Supreme Court of India is yet to announce its verdict on the case of Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji and his wife, who are challenging a Madras High Court order that upheld his arrest for money laundering. Enforcement Directorate (ED), argued that it has the power to arrest and question Balaji in its custody to gather evidence and ensure consistency.

Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case, has had his remand extended to judicial custody until August 8, 2023. Balaji was arrested on June 14 and has been in custody since that day. He was arrested in connection with a cash-for-jobs scam during his time as Transport Minister in the earlier AIADMK regime.
