The Delhi High Court has reserved its order on a plea filed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the excise policy case. Kejriwal, currently in judicial custody, has sought his immediate release. The Enforcement Directorate argued that Kejriwal cannot claim a special exception due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The ED counsel countered Kejriwal s claim that the agency has been unable to locate alleged proceeds of crime and that the court cannot substitute itself in the investigation.

The Delhi High Court on Monday sought the stand of the city police on student activist Sharjeel Imam's plea seeking bail in connection with a 2020 communal riots case involving allegations of sedition and unlawful activities.
Appearing on his behalf, senior advocate Kapil Sibal informed the SC that "due to change of circumstances", Khalid wished to withdraw the bail plea and move the trial court for appropriate relief. Recording Sibal s statement, a division bench comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal allowed the withdrawal of the bail plea.
