SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, along with the other 71 County Sheriffs in Wisconsin, are calling for calm when Joe Biden is inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. The local office posted the message on its facebook page last week following the violence at the nation’s Capitol in Washington.
The Badger State Sheriffs’ Association acknowledged that all citizens have the right to voice their concerns, but urged that it be done “with discretion, care, and common sense in mind.”
The Association reminded citizens that law enforcement personnel are sworn to enforce the law, and while they protect constitutional rights, they will also take action when the law is broken – and there are consequences to breaking the law.

MADISON (WKOW) As states across the US prepared for the potential of armed protesters and violence ahead of the inauguration, people across Wisconsin are calling for a peaceful transition of power.
President-elect Joe Biden takes office on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. President Trump plans to be out of town then, but the FBI is warning groups are planning armed protests that could turn violent there and at all 50 state Capitol buildings. This comes after the deadly violence at the US Capitol on January 6.
“Oh Lord, I’m so tired. So very, very tired. The events of this last week have shaken me, and I wonder where are you in all of this,” said Rev. Michele Maki, with Emmaus Ecumenical Catholic Community in Oshkosh.
Badger State Sheriffs’ Association Calls For Calm Ahead of Inauguration Day
Sheriff’s departments across Wisconsin are calling for calm ahead of possible unrest on Inauguration Day. The Badger State Sheriffs’ Association is recommending people stay home rather than head out to protest during the President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman says that they appreciate people’s right to peaceably gather but warns “If you step outside the law, there will be consequences.” Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney said “our deputies and police officers will always protect the right to assemble and air grievances, but only in a peaceful manner.” The F-B-I is warning of potential violence at state capitols.

BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) Law enforcement is on alert across the country ahead of potential protests around the inauguration of Joe Biden as President next Wednesday.
Brown County Sheriff Todd Delain joined sheriffs across the state in calling for calm next week.
Sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Pawlak says they’re not aware of any concerns surrounding local demonstrations.
“We just know there is a lot of tension out there,” Pawlak told WTAQ. “We understand that. If they want to assemble, we certainly support that, that’s part of the constitution, to peaceably assemble, but ‘peaceably’ is in there.”
