Man dies in grizzly bear attack at Yellowstone National Park

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks staff shot and killed a grizzly bear on Friday, while investigating the scene of a fatal bear attack that occurred on Thursday near Yellowstone National Park, officialssaid.
A Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Departmentnews release said Charles “Carl” Mock, a 40-year-old West Yellowstone man, was fishing alone during the bear encounter in Montana.
The release said Mock had bear spray with him, but it is unknown whether he was able to use it during the attack. Mock was transported with severe injuries to Idaho Falls, where he remained in serious condition Friday.

Wildlife officers shot and killed a grizzly bear last Friday after it fatally mauled a guide near Yellowstone National Park, Montana, wildlife officials said in a press release.
The attack occurred on Thursday about three miles north of Yellowstone near Baker’s Hole campground. The victim, identified by his employer Backcountry Adventures as Carl Mock, called 911; according to the
New York Times, when first responders arrived 50 minutes later, they found the bear still in the area. Emergency medical personnel transported Mock to Idaho Falls, where he underwent several surgeries before passing away from a “massive stroke” on Saturday morning.

A Montana wilderness guide with a love for the outdoors died after he was mauled by a grizzly bear likely defending a moose carcass near Yellowstone National Park, wildlife officials said.
Charles Carl Mock, 40, was attacked last week while fishing north of West Yellowstone near a campground.
Mock sustained significant scalp and facial injuries during the attack, the sheriff s office said in a statement.
According to Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks, Mock was alone when the attack occurred, though he did have bear spray with him. It is unclear if he deployed the bear spray, the agency said.
