Another collapse of a building during demolition in a housing redevelopment district last year killed nine people, all of whom were passengers on a bus crushed by the collapsed building.

Cheong Wa Dae is subject to unrelenting criticisms over its system of vetting candidates for official positions to serve as President Moon Jae-in s aides, as a series of controversies has continued over the true qualifications of many of those selected.
Casting greater doubts is Cheong Wa Dae s sensitivity to public sentiment, as it persists in appointing secretaries and other top ranking officials despite knowing that their questionable career backgrounds and real estate trading records may trigger public uproar.
