Tenkasi and Kollam district administrations have decided to deploy teams drawn from departments of police, public health, excise, forest and transport to monitor movement of vehicles and criminals before and after the Assembly elections to be held in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

A dry run for COVID-19 vaccine administration was held at three centres including Government Victoria Hospital, Travancore Medicity Medical College and Anchal Community Health Centre in the district on Friday.

Prasanna Earnest of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) will preside over Kollam Corporation as she was elected the Mayor in an open ballot on Monday. A councillor representing Thamarakkulam division, this is for the second time she is donning the Mayor’s garb after a stint from 2000 to 2004. She was sworn in by District Collector B. Abdul Nasar.
