Five including former cop injured in firing incidents

Five people, including a retired policeman, were wounded in incidents of firing in the city on Monday.
A 60-year-old man, Sharafat Ali, son of Shahjahan, was wounded in Orangi Town. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. SHO Muhammad Riaz said the injured person was a retired policeman and resident of Ittehad Town. He added that Ali was on his way to his in-laws after withdrawing cash from a private bank’s branch in Orangi Town when muggers shot and injured him for offering resistance during cash snatching.
The suspects also took his weapon with them. The SHO said police were trying to trace the suspects with the help of CCTV footage. Similarly, a young man, Raheel, 24, son of Abdur Razzak, was shot and injured in a firing incident in New Karachi within the limits of the Bilal Colony police station. The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the federal government and other parties, seeking a reply by May 26 on a petition against not allowing PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to travel abroad despite the court’s earlier orders.
Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard the petition. The PML-N leader was represented Advocate Amjad Pervez and Azam Nazeer Tarar.
During the hearing, Justice Najafi questioned whether the application was maintainable after inclusion of Shehbaz Sharif’s in the exit control list (ECL). Whether the application was maintainable after the interim court orders were challenged by the government before the Supreme Court, he further asked. He also questioned the counsel for the petitioner that how the interim orders could be got implemented after inclusion of petitioner’s name in the ECL.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday has sought a written reply from the federal government till May 26 on a plea of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif against not allowing him to travel abroad.
During the hearing, the LHC’s deputy attorney has been directed to attend the proceedings.
Previously, the high court had removed objection over Shehbaz Sharif’s petition against the federal government for stopping him to travel abroad.
