TROs vs party-lists rejection may affect poll preps: Guanzon

Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon (Facebook photo) MANILA - The temporary restraining orders (TROs) issued by the Supreme Court (SC) against the denial of the accreditation of some party-list organizations may affect preparations for the May 2022 polls, an official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Friday. In a Twitter post, Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said this may delay the printing of the ballots, which is set to start early next year. "Those who filed cases to stop COMELEC from printing ballot numbers of the party list, I hope you realize what you have done," Guanzon said. "If ballots are not printed by January, May elections is at risk," she added. Earlier, the poll body denied applications for accreditation of 107 party-list groups. Several groups have asked for relief from the high court and were able to secure a TRO.
