Seven by-elections are taking place in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday, 19 May. The African National Congress (ANC) will be defending five seats, while the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and Democratic Alliance (DA) will be defending one seat each.
The public is requested to be on the lookout for a red Volvo (registration unknown) that sped off in the direction of Mt. Edgecombe, KZN after being hijacked in the vicinity of Avoca Hills, KZN a short while ago (Friday).
A motorist contacted the RUSA Phoenix Operations Center at approximately 17:36 reporting a hijacking that she witnessed. The only information the caller could provide was that she noticed three males hijacking a Chinese national female on Duffs Road. The suspects then sped off in the direction of Mt. Edgecombe. The victim was allegedly still in the car. Reaction Officers have conducted an extensive search of the area without success.

DURBAN – A fire at a paint shop on North Coast Road in Avoca Hills has claimed the life of a man who was discovered inside the building on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said police received a complaint of a fire at business premises in Briardene at 1.45pm.
Mbele said on arrival police found the body of a man believed to be in his thirties with burn wounds.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said paramedics responded to the structural fire that had broken out at a paint shop.
He said eThekwini Fire and Rescue Services, Metro Police Search and Rescue, Marshall Security and the SAPS were also on scene.
