As Rape Victim Struggles to Be Heard, Accused TV Anchor Gets Interim Protection
The 22-year-old victim has alleged that the police authorities did not use their power to call for the presence of the accused, Varun Hiremath â who has been in hiding for over 50 days â to court.

New Delhi: Varun Hiremath, a 28-year-old journalist accused of rape, sexual assault and confinement by a 22-year-old woman, was granted interim protection from arrest on Friday by Delhi high court provided he joins the investigation when the police direct him to do so. Though no timeframe has been set for Hiremath, who is currently absconding, to present himself before the police, the court said it would take up the matter again on April 16.

New Delhi: ET Now anchor and analyst Varun Hiremath has gone into hiding after a 22-year-old woman lodged a complaint at Chanakyapuri police station earlier this week, accusing him of rape.
Hiremath is the son of a Mumbai based businessman. It has been three days since the FIR was registered.
