The West Central girls’ basketball team got a big game from Sydney Elliott and showed some mental toughness down the stretch in a 38-36 win at WIVC rival Carrollton Monday night.
“We made some plays when we had to,” West Central coach Brian Bettis said. “Could have made it a little easier on ourselves missed a couple free throws. We didn’t miss very many … but overall, I think part of it was, we played a lot slower pace. And a lot of that had to do with the way Carrollton was playing, too. They play a slower game also, which meant that we had more quality looks on offense.”
