Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug. 22(EMN): A sit-in demanding immediate implementation of autonomous state was jointly organised by Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), KSA, Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) and ASDC – Youth Front on Autonomous State issue at Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park in Diphu on Monday. In the demonstration, the secretary, incharge of publicity, Daniel Teron blamed the All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) for autonomous state implementation failure. Teron said, ‘we should have got the autonomous state in 1969, but the APHLC betrayed us. The hill state movement of APHLC was launched in 1960 but despite several talks with central leaders, the delegations kept silent about the discussion with the people of Karbi Anglong and NC Hills.’ ‘The AHPLC leaders agreed to stay with Assam and this is the reason we did not get the autonomous state,’ said Teron. Mass prayer on creation of autonomous state held

Our CorrespondentDiphu, Aug. 13 (EMN): A mass prayer for the immediate creation of an autonomous state was organised jointly by the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), KSA and Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) at Diphu Club in Diphu on Aug. 12. Various religious leaders of Karbi Honghari, Christian, Sikh, Radha Krishna, Bhaktitom Trust and Islam offered prayers in their religious ways. The president, ASDC, Chandra Kanta Terang said the mass prayer was organised for peace and immediate granting of an Autonomous State. He said the ASDC is for secularism and no one can divide the people of hill districts in the name of religion. Terang said, the Indian Parliament in its 22nd amendment of the constitution in 1969 had made a provision that if the people of the hill districts of Assam desire an Autonomous State a resolution in Parliament can be passed just by a voice vote. KANCHASDCOM holds sit-in at Jantar Mantar

Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug. 8 (EMN): A sit-in was held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Monday led by Karbi Anglong NC Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KANCHASDCOM) and supported by various organisations of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and NC Hills to pressurise the Central government for immediate implementation of Article 244(A) of Indian constitution and granting autonomous state. Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug. 5 (EMN): Inorder to press the central government on Autonomous State issue, the Autonomous State delegation headed by Karbi Anglong NC Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KAANCHASDCOM) and other supporting organisations have left for New Delhi on Friday to hold a sit-in-demonstration at Jantar Mantar on August 8, to press the Central government in this Monsoon session of Parliament on Autonomous State issue.
