Mercedes-Benz USA announced over the weekend that it s recalling 1.29 million vehicles sold between 2016 and 2021 due to a software problem.
As Reuters reports, Mercedes discovered that when a crash occurs the power supply to an affected vehicle s communication module can suffer a temporary collapse. The knock-on effect being the current location of the vehicle can be reported incorrectly during an emergency call. The manual and automatic emergency call features of these vehicles still functions, but they are of little use if emergency services are rushing to the wrong location.
The vehicles covered in the recall include 2016-2021 models of the CLA-Class, GLA-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, SLC-Class, A-Class, GT-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS-Class, SL-Class, B-Class, GLB-Class, GLC-Class, and G-Class.

Tesla is making a big bet on Bitcoin. The automaker not only plans on accepting the virtual currency as a form payment, but it’s also buying $1.5 billion in Bitcoin itself.
Tesla is spending the massive sum in the hopes Bitcoin will turn out to be a worthy investment, the automaker says in a Monday securities filing. Last month, the company updated its investment policy to “further diversify and maximize returns” on the cash it currently holds.
“Thereafter, we invested an aggregate $1.5 billion in Bitcoin under this policy and may acquire and hold digital assets from time to time or long-term,” the filing adds. In the same document, Tesla says it expects to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment in the near future, but initially on a limited basis.

Tesla has agreed to recall roughly 135,000 Model S and Model X electric vehicles due to faulty display consoles.
The move comes less than three weeks after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requested a recall of 158,000 EVs, citing a potential safety-related defect concerning media control units in certain model year 2012-18 cars.
At the heart of the problem is the Nvidia Tegra 3 processor s integrated 8GB eMMC NAND flash device, which gets overwritten each time the vehicle is started. Overwrite the drive enough times, and it will reach capacity and break down, causing Tesla s connected MCU to go blank. A vacant touch screen isn t the end of the world except when it controls certain aspects of driving performance, including loss of the rearview/backup camera and defogging/defrosting settings, as well as certain Autopilot and turn-signal functionality.
