In a world’s first, the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) has collaborated with researchers at Deakin University to produce the Camera Workforce Census 2021, This census is focused on equity, diversity, and career progression of all camera professionals in Australia.
As part of the world first for research in cinematography, the Camera Workforce Census 2021 seeks to gather as many voices from all camera professionals in Australia. This includes assistants, freelancers, operators, camera crew, and cinematographers. This census isn’t just for members of the ACS, it is also open to any Australian working in the industry.
Cameraman Troy Gordon, who worked on
Australian Survivor, Married at First Sight and
I’m A Celebrity (UK) has died.
He died following a battle with cancer on the Sunshine Coast in the very early hours of Monday morning.
Gordon began working in the industry over 30 years ago in 1985, and started his own company, TRG Vision, in 2005 in Brisbane. He covered news events such as the Gulf War in 1990 and the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and was a recipient of the Golden Tripod award from the Australian Cinematographers Society.
ACA‘s Leila McKinnon said: “Absolutely heartbreaking, we had so many adventures together, he should have had many more to come, so incredibly sad.”
