derrick ward is live at the police headquarters with more. what is the latest? reporter: what we know is the police are leading the investigation into this ambush of a maryland state trooper. i want to show you again pictures of a person of interest. these pictures from surveillance cameras were chaptered shortly before the trooper was killed early yesterday, and it was after midnight when a suspect opened fire. police say the customer had become unruly after a dispute over a bill. police believe the customer may have cut back and shot brown as he spoke to his cell phone. the suspect fled on foot after the shooting and a massive manhunt was launched but nobody was found. we understand trooper brown was wearing a vest, and the bullets were able to penetrate the vest and one struck him in the heart. the attacker as of now has eluded capture. and the reward is up to $50,000 for the arrest, for information leading to the arrest. i had not heard the trooper was wearing a bulle
