Insulting and inappropriate - that s the response to the New Zealand High Commission s Twitter plea for oxygen cylinders to treat a seriously sick staff member with Covid-19.
It comes as the Foreign Ministry this afternoon confirmed a number of locally employed personnel at the commission have contracted the virus - with one falling seriously ill.

In New Zealand, the effects are also being felt by “devastated” families. After the US, India is ranked second in the highest cases of the virus with over 17 million cases of their population of a billion. The Indian government has opened up a donation pool in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to aid stretched services in the country.

From Sunday, no one can arrive here from India for 14 days - giving officials a chance to investigate ways to reduce the risk from a country where the coronavirus is rampant.
That s reflected in the cases picked up in managed isolation here, with 80 percent in the past two weeks from the subcontinent. Seventeen of the 23 Covid-19 cases reported in managed isolation yesterday arrived from India.
