MC Board expected to confirm Tanzyus and Bethel as replacements for Hulme and Dorman

Dave Tanzyus will be appointed Madison County administrator at a special board meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday. A former aide to Republican Congressman Mike Bost, Tanzyus has been serving in Chairman Kurt Prenzler s administration since December when the board confirmed his appointment as community development administrator. With 30 years of government experience, Tanzyus will fill the seat that had been occupied by administrator Doug Hulme, who was terminated by the county board last April. Prenzler also will appoint Chris Bethel as IT director. Bethel started working for IT in January 2017, under former director Rob Dorman, whom the county board also terminated last April. Bethel began as a project manager, then became manager of network services.

Deputy administrator Adler placed on leave; Few details provided on record

Adler Madison County deputy administrator Stephen Adler was placed on administrator last Friday, but officials familiar with the matter would not provide details on the record. Adler s boss, county chairman Kurt Prenzler, said he could not discuss the situation publicly as it was a personnel matter, but he did confirm Adler was placed on leave April 30. County board member Mick Madison (R-Bethalto) said the matter was referred for investigation to State s Attorney Tom Haine. Madison also said he could not comment on personnel issues or matters for executive session. Haine has not repsonded to a request for comment. When contacted by phone Wednesday afternoon, Adler also said he could not comment.
