Ministry Urges Private Sector to Establish More Hospitals Dr. Patel - file photo
The Ministry of Health has asked the private sector to invest more in establishing private hospitals in order to achieve universal health coverage.
Speaking during commissioning of Atlas Medical Center in Blantyre on Tuesday afternoon, the Ministry’s Chief of Health Services, Dr Queen Dube, said it pathetic that out of 9, 498 hospitals in the country, only 121 are owned by the private sector while the rest belong to government and religious institutions.
“I therefore ask a few privileged people to actively participate in the provision of quality, equity and affordable health services to citizens in the country,” said Dr Dube
