inside danvers high school. that s where she was a may math teacher. then she was dragged to the woods in a recycling bin. it has left the people in shock. her killer who was 14 years old, phillip chism, would commit such an outrageous crime. reporter: as danvers high school mourns, new details are emerging. a source close to the investigation tell cnn around 3:30 tuesday afternoon, her 14-year-old student allegedly beat and slash her with a box cutter in a second floor student restroom. the source said he then stuffed her body into a recycling bin, rolled it out of the school and dumped her body about 20 feet into the woods behind the athletic fields. the bin was found over an embankment. he allegedly exchanged clothes, went to a local wendy s and then
that can fuel some of these demands for super human feats of strength and incredible acts on the athletic fields. i think that that can fuel a demand that can t be met by individuals. and individuals drawn to these sports, maybe those who have a deep need to out perform, who feel very small inside and need to pump themselves up very big, that s the story of each of these people who commit these frauds. they are shattered people. martha: i think to myself, lance armstrong has an opportunity here, jim. he could say you know what, the whole thing stinks to high heaven across the board with awful these sports and i have an opportunity now as one of the most well-known athletes in the world to go out there and talk to kids, to talk to college students and talk to the people who returning and say you know what we have to rethink this. or we ll just keep going and going and going like this with all the people cheating and fake. who is going to believe right
decision by congress to repeal don t ask, don t tell and a statement released by the university yesterday, he said the rotc s return to harvard is good for the university, good for the military and good for the country and together we ve made a decision to enrich the experience open to harvard s under graduates, and make the military better and our nation stronger, because with exposure comes understanding and through understanding comes strength. and this means that harvard university will once again fund the program and continue the partnership with mit that allowed university students to actively participate in the rotc during the years and they ll offer classroom space an office space and open up some of the athletic fields another training and a big change here today on harvard s campus, welcoming the rotc back, patti ann? patti ann: what is the reaction of students? reporter: you know, we ve had mixed reaction and it runs the gamut, some say it is long overdue and are happy t
part, they feel that they are an essential part of the harvard community. and that this has been an excellent environment for them. and president faust, i covered secretary colin powell s visit when he delivered the commencement speech back in 1993. i asked him, because there were protests, his visit was being protested, how he justified the don t ask, don t tell policy, and he said at the time, it was to maintain order. this reversal on the side of the military, the government, really a political and culture sea change. do you feel that harvard is also ready for a sea change of its own? beyond offering office space, access to classrooms and athletic fields for the rotc, but to establish a real rotc unit on campus? the sea change is one that it s important to note, and to celebrate today, with the repeal of don t ask, don t tell and the landmark. that is for inclusion in our society. so i just want to reinforce what
training corps back to campus. drew faust will be joining the secretary of the navy today to make this announcement official, and this comes in the wake of the repeal of don t ask, don t tell. the president of the university put out a statement yesterday saying our renewed relationship affirms the vital role that the members of the armed forces play in serving the nation and securing our freedoms while also affirming inclusion and opportunity as powerful american ideals. it broadens the pathways for students to participate in an honorable and admirable calling, and in so doing, advances our commitment to both learning and the service. this means that harvard will once again fund the program, offer class space and allow their athletic fields to be used as well. a partnership with mit will also continue, they will continue to train together. jon, back to you. jon: molly line live from cambridge, thanks. jenna: rick leventhal combining work and play here. rick, do you want to take it away
