hi, thanks so much for joining me today. i m jessica dean in washington, d.c. in for fredricka whitfield. we begin with a major shift in memphis. just a day after video shows the brutal police beating of tyre nichols, the city police department announcing it is permanently deactivating the scorpion unit. all five officers charged in nichols death were part of the movement and after protests around the country demanding it be dissolved. the attorney for tyre nichols s family ben crump telling cnn that it is a positive step but the work is far from over. in communities of color, they often have different types of police than many of white brothers and sisters have in their community and this video illustrates that it is this culture that said it doesn t matter whether the police officers are black, hispanic or white, that it is somehow allowed for you to tramp on the constitutional rights of certain citizens from certain ethnicities and certain communities and we have to hav
