York, ME, resident takes command of Army National Guard division

Troy, New York-based unit responsible for National Guard elements in New York, New Jersey and New England Courtesy of the New York National Guard LATHAM, N.Y. – New York Army National Guard Major General Thomas Spencer, a resident of York, Maine, took command of the Troy, New York–based 42nd Infantry Division during a change of command ceremony held April 17. Spencer, a veteran of the Iraq War and Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1990-1991, has been serving as the Assistant Deputy Commander for Sustainment for the 42nd Infantry Division since 2018. This included a deployment to the Middle East in 2020. The 42nd Infantry Division is one of eight National Guard division headquarters.
