QUEZON CITY, Apr. 25 Service members from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and United States Armed Forces concluded the 36th iteration of Balikatan Exercise on Friday, April 23 with a small ceremony held at the General Headquarters at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
“The successful conduct of this year’s Balikatan Exercise 36-2021 has definitely brought us a step closer towards our goal of capacitating our forces, and as such, will consequently contribute to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific Region,” said AFP Chief of Staff General Cirilito Sobejana.

New Navy Fleet Commanders in Pacific, Middle East Nominated; New Picks for N9, Inspector General

The White House has put forward nominees to lead the Navy’s two fleets in the Pacific and the fleet in the Middle East, as well as the service’s chief requirements officer and inspector general, the Pentagon announced this week.
Vice Adm. Scott D. Conn
Vice Adm. Scott Conn, current commander of U.S. 3rd Fleet, was nominated to be deputy chief of naval operations for warfighting requirements and capabilities (OPNAV N9). The career fighter pilot has served as the head of 3rd Fleet since September of 2019. Prior to the command, Conn was the director of air warfare (N98). Rick Malott has been hired as the LaSalle Fire Services Deputy Fire Chief effective March 15th, 2021.

Malott comes from the Essex Fire and Rescue Services, and has been their Deputy Fire Chief since May 2014. He started his career with Essex Fire and Rescue Services in 2008 moving through the ranks of firefighter, Captain, District Chief, Assistant Deputy Chief and Deputy Chief.
