We have more on what hospitals are preparing for. Reporter bay area doctors say hospitals are better prepared for a surge because they have been planning for one since sprng. This tent was set up for covid19 patients. It hasnt been filled but experts worry this time as cases rise sharply that may chang. We have a playbook, we have a formula that we set up even from the beginning of the pandemic. Reporter this doctor says while bay area hospitals are prepared for a fall surge in covid19 cases he is urging everyone to keep the guard up. Cases are climbing. Right now San Francisco is seeing an average of 80 new cases a day compared to 32 a day in early october. Experts warn if the curve isnt flattened it could climb to 300 cases a day by theened of december and could overwhelm hospitals. A lot more people are in the hospital

These are the new cases reported today in the bay area. Santa clara county adding 335 cases. Alameda, San Francisco, sonoma countys all adding more than 100 cases. These new cases are pargts of the growing trend across the country. Tonight the United States has more than 11 million covid19 cases. As we mentioned, many bay area counties are tightening restrictions. Right now indoor operations in San Francisco are scaled back. Starting tuesday, marin, contra costa, santa clara counties, theyre all going to do the same. Some restrictions in Contra Costa County are being tightened even further, especially when it comes to indoor gyms.
