It’s been more than 30 years since five young Black and Brown teenagers were wrongfully convicted in the sexual assault of a jogger in Central Park. Raymond Santana (co-author of this piece), Yusef Salaam, Korey Wise, Kevin Richardson, and Antron McCray were held for hours by police lied to, coerced, isolated from their families and each other, and aggressively interrogated without legal counsel present.
