It’s been more than 30 years since five young Black and Brown teenagers were wrongfully convicted in the sexual assault of a jogger in Central Park. Raymond Santana (co-author of this piece), Yusef Salaam, Korey Wise, Kevin Richardson, and Antron McCray were held for hours by police — lied to, coerced, isolated from their families and each other, and aggressively interrogated without legal counsel present.
