A slew of initiatives like One District One Product, GI products such as Assam Lemon, Gamusa, Muga silk etc.along with traditional dresses of Assam, Ease of Doing Business, Assam Start Up etc are being promoted in the Fair.
In what could be a significant boost to tea consumption, the Assam government is considering a plan to provide one kilogram of tea to ration cardholders at a subsidized rate. Assam s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted that all ration cardholders already receive 5 kilograms of free rice and health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. Now, the state government is contemplating offering one kilogram of tea at a 75% discount compared to market prices. This initiative coincides with the celebration of 200 years of Assam Tea production.
Zetta Farms is on an expansion drive in Assam, securing a lease for 7,000 acres of Bakhola Tea Estate along with two associated factories. This move reinforces Zetta Farms presence in the tea industry, positioning it to yield an impressive 3.5 million kilograms of tea annually.
