The State Government informed the Gauhati High Court that the evicted occupants of the Dholpur village in Sipajhar were ‘encroachers as such they are liable to be evicted at any time as per rules.
The Assam government said it has earmarked about 134 hectare for relocating the evicted families of Gorukhuti in Darrang district provided they are valid citizens besides a set of other requirements.
While defending his arguments in the affidavit, Sarma further said that it is not related to acquisition of land, it is only related to encroachment and eviction.
