SARATOGA SPRINGS A 16-year-old boy was killed on Tuesday after a driver allegedly ran a red light and struck the teenager s car, Saratoga Springs police said.
Assistant Chief Bill Robertson said it was about 2 p.m. when police received several calls about a traffic accident at Harvest Hills and Redwood Road.
Robertson said that the 16-year-old was attempting to turn left to go west on Harvest Hills. Witnesses told police that a 28-year-old man driving south on Redwood Road ran a red light and struck the teen s car.
The 16-year-old died on the scene from his injuries, said Robertson. Medical personnel tried to revive him but their attempts were unsuccessful. Robertson said that the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, Saratoga Springs police and Life Flight responded to the crash.

A proposal to deregister part of the common land along the A505 Baldock Road and exchange it with land west of Pen Hills has been approved.
Since then, the heath has been 8500m² smaller than it should have been.

The discovery happened when members of the action group opposing the previous land swap application did their research at Hertfordshire Archives.
While checking documents, Royston residents Karen Pearson and Don Shewan uncovered information about the compulsory purchase of a small section of the common for a new dual carriageway on the A505.

LEAD, S.D. (AP) A black bear has been spotted roaming the Northern Hills lately.
Earlier this month it was captured on security camera at the Mystic Hills Hideaway south of Lead and Deadwood. It appeared as if it was the same one spotted earlier in Lead, and along Maitland Road in late April. Additional reports indicated a bear was around Spearfish just before that.
Bears occasionally roam through the Black Hills. For the last three years, residents have reported the bruins to the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks. In 2020, a bear, jet black in color, was spotted near Hermosa, loping through a field as a passerby videoed the bear from his car window.
