Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif rejoiced over the Financial Action Task Force s (FATF) exclusion of Islamabad from its grey list after four long years, the group which combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
Noting that Pakistan has been forced to take some action against well-known terrorists as a result of FATF scrutiny, India on Friday said that Islamabad must take credible, and verifiable action against terrorism and terrorist financing emanating from territories under its control.
Four years after it was put on the grey list of a global watchdog for financing terrorism and money laundering, Pakistan's name has finally been struck off it.
After it first made it to the Financial Action Task Force's 'grey list' in 2008, Pakistan's name figured in the subsequent lists in 2012 and 2018. The latest removal of Pakistan from the inglorious list marks a significant development.
