A young Toronto man who left a bloody trail in Sudbury a year ago is headed to the pen.
Cameron Alamina, one of the key figures in a shooting that wounded two men on Whittaker Street last February, pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted murder.

Alamina, 21, also pleaded guilty to an armed home invasion on Jan. 20, 2020, on Bloor Street. Attackers repeatedly struck a man with a machete, seriously wounding him, while a woman was struck several times with a firearm and suffered serious injuries.

A third person charged in a Whittaker Street shooting that sent two men to hospital almost a year ago has admitted his role in the case.
Richard Derouin, 24, pleaded guilty Tuesday in the Ontario Court of Justice to aggravated assault and possession of a weapon while prohibited arising from the Feb. 9, 2020, attack.

Derouin also pleaded guilty to other violent incidents over the past 18 months.
Since defence lawyer Denis Michel ordered a Gladue report, a sentencing date will be set later this week. A Gladue report assists a judge with sentencing options for people of First Nation heritage. Derouin is of Metis background.
