Keyshawn Halovich, 19, was to have been sentenced last Friday but that didn’t happen as his lawyer, Robert Beckett, was ill. A new sentencing date will be set in Superior assignment court July 6.

On March 9, Halovich pled guilty to two of 10 charges he was facing concerning the Feb. 9, 2020 incident: aggravated assault and possession of a loaded, restricted handgun.
Beckett ordered both a pre-sentence report and a Gladue report, which assists a judge with sentencing options for people of First Nation heritage. The court heard Halovich is of Indigenous heritage on his mother’s side.
