MONMOUTH, ILL. (02/11/2023) The Monmouth College women's basketball team fell to Ripon College 69-49 on Saturday. The Fighting Scots (10-14, 6-9) will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday at Cornell. Ripon got off to a hot start with an 8-0 lead before Lily Harlan (Washington, Illinois) made a jumper to get the Scots on the board. Zoie Wall (Bartonville, Illinois) made a 3-pointer and Harlan knocked down two free throws to cut the lead to 10-7. Allie Hoy (Woodland, Illinois) got a bucket to answer Ripon's score. The Fighting Scots (8-9, 4-4) have won three of the last four home games and are tied for fourth in the Midwest Conference after handing the Rams just their second MWC defeat. Cornell got the first basket of the game before Zoie Wall (Bartonville, Illinois) scored in the lane. Lily Harlan (Washington, Illinois) knocked down a baseline jumper and Wall put the Scots up 6-5. The loss ends a two-game MWC win streak for the Fighting Scots (7-8, 3-3) as they were outscored by 19 points in the fourth quarter. Grinnell jumped out to an early lead of 5-2 and pushed that lead to 15-5. The Scots are now 2-2 in Midwest Conference play. Lawrence grabbed the first basket on the opening possession but the Scots answered through senior Zoie Wall (Bartonville, Illinois).
