竜門小屋―竜門山―西朝日岳―大朝日小屋―大朝日岳―小朝日岳―鳥原山―鳥原小屋 以東岳（左奥）など、これまでたどった山々を背後に進む縦走隊
夢心地のまま出発した一行を竜門山（1688メートル）で待っていたのは、鮮やかにそびえる主峰の大朝日岳（1871メートル）の姿。ヒメサユリやコイワカガミなどの高山植物も気持ちよさそうに風に揺れている。背後を振り返ると、一行がこれまで歩いた以東岳（1772メートル）などの山容がくっきりと見えた。前日に竜門小屋に泊まるという決断がなければ見られなかった光景だ。
主峰の大朝日岳では、直下にある金玉（きんぎょく）水の清水を使ったそうめんで腹を満たし、この日の目的
