The NGT also directed the Delhi government and its public works department (PWD) to pay a cost of Rs 10,000 each for not submitting their reports according to the tribunal s earlier directions.
The CBI has initiated a preliminary inquiry into alleged misconduct by unidentified public servants in the construction of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal s new official residence. The inquiry aims to determine if there is enough evidence to proceed with a formal investigation. The CBI has requested records from the Public Works Department related to approvals, endorsements, tender documents, contractor bids, building plans, and payments.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the inquiry would soon establish on whose instructions norms for floating tenders for the construction of government accommodation at such a scale were violated.
