Arts Council Korea (ARKO) announced Tuesday three new performances inspired by traditional art forms as part of its ARKO Selection, a program supporting promising new and revived performing arts productions.
Three new works this year are New Shimbanggok by crossover band Sinnoi, New Pansori: Leafie: A Hen Into the Wild by director and pansori singer Ji Gi-hak, and Sound goeng by Lim Young-ju of the band GongMyoung.
The pieces emphasize the use of profound traditional sounds that have endured for many centuries and have been made to fit modern tastes.
