Gainesville s Paul Reinhart texted wife before deaths of himself, sons

Minde Reinhart, 42, had raced through darkness to the luxury home in a gated community in Gainesville where she lived until recently with her husband and sons. Her depressed husband who separated from his wife and recently lost his high-paying executive job had bizarrely published 64 photos from their wedding 19 years ago to his Facebook page at 5 a.m. Texts to Minde around the same time which ended abruptly made clear he blamed her for their pending divorce. “You should have put your family first,” he wrote. “Now it s too late. You re so selfish. You re going to live with this the rest of your life.

Alachua County Sheriff s Office looking for David Wright, missing since Tuesday

The Alachua County Sheriff s Office is looking for a missing local man who may need medical help. David Eric Wright, 48, was last seen Tuesday by his wife before she left home for work, sheriff s spokesman Art Forgey said. When she returned home that evening, she could not find him in their home, but his phone, wallet and vehicle were left behind. Family friends and deputies searching woods along the 6000 block of Southwest 13th Street, where the couple live, have been unable to find him as of Friday morning, Lt. Kaley Behl said. The disappearance is out of character for Wright, Behl said, because he does have limited mobility and other health issues the agency would not specify, citing privacy laws.

COVID cases rise in Alachua County jail, vaccination rates low

Six Alachua County Sheriff’s Office employees are on sick leave with COVID-19 this week, though the office doesn’t give a breakdown of the employees’ departments. To date, about 170 inmates have tested positive for COVID-19 since July 4, 2020, the first date a case was recorded there.  Inmates tested for virus ‘as needed’   Inmates and staff are not tested for COVID-19 unless they exhibit symptoms, Forgey said, or if an inmate is being transferred to the state prison system, which requires a negative test before intake. However, all county jail staff, inmates and visitors undergo temperature checks before entering the facility. Other protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment such as masks, and frequent hand washing and distancing are in place.

Body worn cameras will soon be bought by the Alachua County Sheriff

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office will soon be in the modern age with body-worn cameras on the way. ASO isn’t the only law enforcement agency in the county to not have body cams but it is the biggest. Video of arrests and police use of force, including from cameras worn by officers, has been pivotal in high-profile cases nationally, including the conviction this week of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd in Minnesota. An ASO officer shot a man last week after being called to a domestic dispute. He survived, but a woman who witnessed the encounter described it differently from the deputy s account although there is no body-cam video to document the event.

Marion County Starts Vaccinating Jail Inmates Against COVID-19 By Alex DeLuca April 5, 2021 Marion County Jail has begun vaccinating its incarcerated population for COVID-19 making them among the first inmates in Florida to receive the shot.  Starting March 22, the jail started vaccinating inmates older than 60 who meet the state’s vaccine eligibility criteria, said María Torres, Chief Healthcare Administrator for Heart of Florida Health Center. The health center contracts with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to provide medical services to the county jail’s inmates.  While more than 75 inmates qualified for the vaccine, 43 opted to receive it, Torres said. They received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot.
