Valerie Young, 52, Delia s aunt, was charged with manslaughter, tampering with or destroying evidence, failure to provide medical attention and aggravated child abuse.
Delia s guardian, Marian Glovina Williams, 57, of 507 NW 192nd Ave., was charged with negligent manslaughter of a child/accessory after the fact, neglect of a child with great bodily harm, refusing medical care as the condition worsens and concealing physical evidence.
Forgey said he believes the Florida Department of Children and Families had previous contact with the family.
“I think they have but I don’t know to what extent,” Forgey said. “We got some messages from different people saying they had interaction with Delia, noticed things and reported it to DCF. I think there is some history.”

Nearly half of all law enforcement agencies in the United States require officers to wear a body camera. Soon, the Alachua County Sheriff s Office will join them.
Last October, the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners approved $500,000 for body cameras, ACSO spokesperson Art Forgey said. Deputies who do not wear body cameras when they’re supposed to can face penalties. There is currently not a set date for the body camera requirement.
