Andres Centino appointed new Philippine Army chief Published May 15, 2021 9:42pm Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Saturday night confirmed the appointment of Major General Andres Centino as Philippine Army chief, replacing Lieutenant General Jose Faustino. Lorenzana did not give other details on the appointment. Centino was commander of the 4th Infantry Division, which is based in Cagayan de Oro City. Before becoming 4th ID commander in May last year, Centino was the Armed Forces Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations. Meanwhile, Faustino previously headed the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) in Davao City. He is due to retire by November of this year.
