AU-based UP alumnus stays proud of university despite dispute with DND

DILG, UP to hold meeting to discuss 1992 agreement By ANNA FELICIA BAJO, GMA News Published February 2, 2021 11:40am The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the University of the Philippines will hold a meeting this week to review their 1992 agreement.  In a press statement Tuesday, the DILG ensured that it would not unilaterally abrogate its deal with the University without consulting concerned officials.  “Contrary to a report that came out in a broadsheet, the DILG wants to hold a dialogue with UP officials to revisit the 1992 agreement. For the record, what we said was that there is a need to review the 1992 agreement requiring the PNP to notify UP authorities before entering its campuses,” DILG spokesman Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said.

Senate adopts reso urging DND, UP to engage in dialogue to protect academic freedom

The Senate on Tuesday adopted a resolution supporting the pending dialogue between the Department of National Defense (DND) and the University of the Philippines (UP) to address the recent unilateral abrogation of the accord which prohibits the entry of state forces in the premiere state university's campuses.
